Minutes
Tom Bosket –
DFC Outreach in Manor 5/20 – meeting Angelica from ‘Fearless at the Sunoco Station 4p-5p. Outreach involves walking the streets in a community, getting a feel for it, stopping in at places to let them know about SALT – as well as for us to get to know each other better. Tom’s # if participating: (848)333-5851
3. Radio Call-to-Action – First 6 months was about getting to know about SALT. Next 6: Focus on Prevention. Contact Tom to participate.
The ‘Fly High ½ Halloween” Event 5/15 went well 40+ kids plus families. Donated refreshments, good time had by all.
4..‘Chronic State’ screening & discussion took place. Can watch for free on Vimeo (1hr) State of Idaho produced against legalizing marijuana. Youth can’t legally access these dispensaries; will go elsewhere to get it – not good. We need to meet and discuss strategies how to deal with that now that it’s legal in NYS.
5. Public Health visited YII meeting (they meet every other Thursday). Youth want to make adults aware of the dangers of marijuana – even though it’s not heroin it’s still not a healthy path for youth.
6. SALT website revamp near completion – will share with us for feedback soon.
SALT General – Martin Colavito
Sullivan Fresh Community Cupboard started with the pandemic to help meet a need that existed – but had always existed and this program shined a light on it. It grew from a few dozen families to servinf 350/400 people. They have a fundraising campaign going on right now – this is not a ‘funded’ program in & of itself.
Working on getting a meeting with Senator Martucci
Eviction Crisis – send people to Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. Deb Worden from ATI spoke of the soon to be released ERAP Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Will also cover back utility costs in addition to rental assistance.
501(c)3 Status – waiting on lawyer to review – Deb from ATI will take a look at the application.
Monticello St Johns St – The Community HUB – will soon be used by MCSD 6th graders to allow for classes & social distancing in light of ongoing construction at the middle school.
First f/u meeting with the Liberty PD – involving community leaders – is next week. Will also meet with Mtc PD & Fallsburg PD.
“Hate Has No Home Here’ next event: Saturday, June 5th in Manor. Partnering with SARE – Standing Against Racism in Education – at the Catskill Brewery.

Works primarily in NY & VT. They have prospective parents from all over the country. A private adoption agency. They’ve worked with Garnett Health locally. They do 300 intakes and about 30 adoptions per year. They are an ‘all-options’ agency and are inclusive – LGBTQ +
They offer a ‘Temporary Care Program’ right after birth – giving a new mom 30 days during which the mother retains custody until she decides what she wants to do. Adoption plan can be developed with a case mgr, they can choose the family & level of contact post-adoption. They work with mothers 13yo & up, the incarcerated & the undocumented.
Prospective adoptive parent/parents have a 1.5 day workshop to complete to determine if eligible. There are costs involved for prospective adopters, not mothers of babies to be adopted. Olivia is looking forward to working with us.
